Designed in collaboration with the project client.
Tucked away within a cal-de-sac in Yeppoon, Central Queensland, this conceptual hampton-style family home is situated on a small, odd shaped and complex site. Utlising a split-level design to limit the extent of cut and fill, this house provides the client and their family a comfortable and relaxing home. With warm timber floors, soft white walls and muted sandy hues, reflecting the echidna’s earthy tones, creates a calm and sophisticated living space. The straight lines of the external weatherboard cladding, inspired by the spines of the echidna, provides an inviting and stylish aesthetic. This design has created a sense of security and relaxation, making the home a welcoming retreat.

Hurrying is no concern for these creatures! With a top speed of 2.3 kilometres per hour, these spikey creatures are definitely not going to win many races. However, echidnas are more likely to mosey along at a relaxed pace of 1 kilometre an hour.
